Scholarships

The Meadows Home & Garden Club has been presenting scholarships for residents of the City of Meadows Place since 1995.  The club was met with an unprecedented challenge in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  However, despite the challenges, the club managed to award two scholarship this year.  

2022 Scholarship Recipients

Victoria Muldowney

Victoria Muldowney is the 2022 winner of a $1,000.00  academic scholarship from the Meadows Home & Garden Club.  She will attend the University of Texas at Dallas to become a radiologist.  At Dulles High School she achieved a weighted GPA of 3.9 (out of 4).   Besides being a great student, she has been a swimmer on the Meadows Marlins Swim team since age 5 and on the high school swim team.  She writes that competing in swim meets taught her to focus on doing her best, rather than comparing herself to others.  This, she says, “allows you to accomplish more than you could imagine possible.”

Jimmy Valle

Jimmy Valle is the 2022 winner of a $300.00 vocational/technical scholarship from the Meadows Home & Garden Club.  He will attend the welding training program at Texas State Technical College in Richmond, TX.   Jimmy is the Eagle Scout that built the GaGa Ball pit in the City park.  That’s the octagonal wood and metal ring near the baseball diamond that provides a new recreational and exercise opportunity for our youth.  Jimmy has been a scout for the past nine years, joining as a Webelo.  He writes that, although he has forgotten most of the knots he learned in scouting, perseverance, respect for leadership, and a willingness to work are the real skills that will stay with him for life.
